WE ARE LISTING THIS PICTURE GUIDE TO HELP EVERY POTENTIAL BUYER WHO IS LOOKING AT KAWASAKI TOOLS. WE KNOW HOW EXPENSIVE VINTAGE TOOLS ARE SO WE ARE POSTING THIS TO HELP YOU, THE BUYER, MAKE INTELLIGENT DECISIONS.
WE PRICED THIS AD VERY HIGH SO NO ONE BUYS IT AND IT REMAINS POSTED BUT TO STAY WITHIN THE RULES, WE WILL CERTAINLY SELL THIS SET OF WRENCHES FOR OUR ASKING PRICE. WE HOPE THAT EVERYONE SEE'S THE BIGGER PICTURE HERE THOUGH. WE ARE SPENDING OUR DOLLARS TO HELP YOU ALL BY POSTING THIS!
IT IS OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY IN ORDER TO HELP PEOPLE WHO RELY ON THE VERACITY OF EBAY AD’S (MISTAKE #1).
WE HAVE TWO GOALS:
Number 1 is that- WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED READING THIS, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO LOOK AT THE OFFERINGS ON EBAY AND KNOW WHAT AD’S ARE HONEST AND WHICH ONES ARE LYING.
Number 2 is that- WE HOPE THIS MIFFS THE SELLERS TRYING TO RIP BUYERS OFF!
THIS AD WILL SAVE YOU MONEY!
WE HAVE A COUPLE OF TOOL SETS LISTED AND WE ARE STRAIGHT SHOOTERS WHEN IT COMES TO THE CONTENT, JUST READ THE AD’S. ONE AD IS A INEXPENSIVE MIX OF OLDER AND NEWER, ONE IS A GENUINE KZ KIT AND THE OTHER IS GENUINE H2 KIT. WE WILL LIST OTHERS THIS WEEK OR WEEKEND. OTHER SELLERS HOWEVER ARE NOT AS HONEST AND IT PAINS US TO SEE PEOPLE SPENDING THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON A SET OF MODERN TOOLS JUST BECAUSE THE SELLER POSTS THE AD STATING “H2 TOOL KIT” OR “Z1 ORIGINAL FACTORY KIT” OR SOME OTHER RUBISH.
WE ARE GOING TO CLEAR UP A LOT OF CONFUSION CREATED BY SELLERS TRYING TO “CASH IN” ON THE VINTAGE MARKET FOR THE OLD KAWASAKI TOOLS.
WE'VE INCLUDED A PICTURE TO HELP YOU, EVEN IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT ANOTHER SELLERS AD! WE DON’T CARE IF YOU BUY SOMEONE ELSE S KITS, THAT’S YOUR CHOICE BUT WE NEVER WANT TO SEE ANYONE RIPPED OFF. WHILE A COMPLETE LESSON WOULD TAKE UP 3 OR 4 FULL PAGES, THIS QUICK-GUIDE WILL HELP YOU TO DETERMINE IF THE SET YOU ARE LOOKING AT IS “REAL” OR JUST A RIPOFF.
OK, ON TO THE PICTURE. WE START AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WRENCH PAGE:
1. THE PICTURE SHOWS THAT THE VERY EARLY KAWASAKI TOOLS CAME WITH EITHER THE “FLAG” & WITH THE NUMBERS WRITTEN SIDEWAYS SO IT CAN BE READ WHILE HOLDING THE WRENCH HORIZONTAL OR THE “NO FLAG” TOOLS BUT IN BOTH TYPES, THE NUMBERS WERE WRITTEN SIDEWAYS (AND THERE IS A “M” ON THE BACK)!! BUT, THE PLIERS INCLUDED IN THESE SETS BETWEEN 1968-1971 HAD NO MARKINGS AT ALL BUT HAD THE THICK JAW DESIGN! THESE ARE TRUE VINTAGE TOOLS AND VERY HIGHLY VALUED!
2. NEXT, IN 1971 TILL 1975 CAME THE BOX WITH THE DESIGN INSIDE, ALSO CALLED THE “BUTTERFLY-IN-A-BOX” OR “CIRCLE IN A SQUARE” LOGO. THIS LOGO SHOULD BE ON ALL THE WRENCHES, SHOCK TOOL AND THE PLIERS! SOME SCREWDRIVERS HAD A LOGO, SOME DIDN’T AND THE BITS HAD NO MARKINGS. ALL YEARS Z1’S, H2’S AND ALL YEAR H1’S SETS EXCEPT THE EARLY 69-71 H1’S, HAD THIS LOGO! IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT A H1(72-75) OR ANY H2 OR Z1 SET, THIS LOGO SHOULD BE ON EVERY SINGLE WRENCH (EXCEPT TUBE WRENCHES), THE SHOCK TOOL AND THE PLIERS (AND SPARK PLUG SOCKET FOR THE Z1). THESE ALSO ARE TRUE VINTAGE TOOLS AND ARE HIGHLY VALUED THOUGH NOT QUITE AS VALUABLE AS THE “FLAG/NO-FLAG” TOOLS ABOVE.
3. THESE TOOLS WERE USED UNTIL 1976 WHEN THE LARGE “K” TOOLS CAME OUT WITH THE FIRST OF THE KZ’S. THE LARGE “K” SHOULD BE ON ALL THE WRENCHES, THE SPARK PLUG WRENCH, SHOCK TOOL AND THE PLIERS! NO Z1, H1 OR H2 HAD A LARGE “K” TOOL, EVER!!! THESE TOOLS HAVE MUCH LOWER BUT SOME VINTAGE VALUE.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT A SET THAT INCLUDES TOOLS THAT DON’T HAVE THE LARGE K OR THE BUTTERFLY-IN-A-BOX LOGO ON EVERY SINGLE WRENCH, IT IS NOT CORRECT FOR ANY KAWASAKI STREET BIKE BETWEEN 1972 AND 1979.
5. THE LARGE “K” DISAPPEARED IN 1980 AND ONLY THE WORD “KAWASAKI” WAS WRITTEN ON THE WRENCHES. THE PLIERS HAD NO MARKINGS AT ALL BUT WERE THE SILVERY COLOR AND HAD THINNER JAWS MAKING THEM EASY TO SPOT. THE NUMBERS ON THESE WERE WRITTEN VERTICALLY. THERE IS NO LOGO (NO BOX OR LARGE “K”). IF THERE IS NO BUFFERFLY IN A BOX OR LARGE K LOGO, IT AIN’T OLD! THESE TOOLS HAVE VERY TINY, MINIMAL VINTAGE VALUE.
6. THE WORD “KAWASAKI” DISAPPEARED FROM THE TOOLS ALTOGETHER IN THE MID-LATE 80’S AND ONLY THE SIZE REMAINS. THERE ARE NO LOGO’S OR WORDS OTHER THAN “MADE IN JAPAN” (and "mito" on the back). THESE HAVE NO VINTAGE VALUE AT ALL! THIS ALSO INCLUDES THE TOOLS WITH A "K" INSIDE A CIRCLE, THEY ARE AUTO TOOLS AND HAVE NO VALUE AT ALL!
7. THE BAR HANDLE FOR ALL BUT THE EARLIEST TRIPLES SHOULD BE RECTANGULAR TUBE, NO ROUND TUBE AND IT SHOULD BE APPROX 6-7” LONG WITH ONE HOLE APPROX ONE THIRD OF THE WAY FROM THE END. THE PART RECTANGLE/PART ROUND BARS ARE MODERN AND HAVE NO VINTAGE VALUE.
THE SHOCK TOOL FOR ALL H1, H2 AND Z1 WAS CURVED AT ONE END ONLY! IT NEVER WAS CURVED AT ONE END AND HAD A WRENCH AT THE OTHER FOR ANY H1, H2 OR Z1!
OK, ON TO THE PLIERS:
LOOK CAREFULLY AT THE FIRST PLIERS PICTURE. YOU CAN OBVIOUSLY SEE THAT #6 IS CORRECT FOR THE 71-75 TOOL KITS SINCE IT HAS THE "BUTTERFLY-IN-A-BOX LOGO. IF THE LARGE "K" WAS PRESENT INSTEAD, IT WOULD BE CORRECT FOR THE KZ'S AS ARE THE WRENCHES WITH THE LARGE "K". LOOK AT THE REST, CAN YOU GUESS WHICH IS CORRECT FOR THE EARLY H1'S? DIFFICULT ISN'T IT? OK, WE CHEATED... #5 AND #4 ARE BOTH CORRECT FOR THE 60-70/1 H1'S WITH #5 BEING NOS(THE INSPECTION LABEL IS ON THE HIDDEN SIDE) BUT SEE HOW CLOSE #3 LOOKS TO THEM? THE DIFFERENCES ARE SUBTLE BUT CLEAR ONCE YOU KNOW. LOOK AT THE SMALL TOOL LINE ON THE LEFT HANDLE UNDER THE JAWS. SEE HOW THE LINE ON #3 POINTS UP WHILE #4 AND #5 BOTH POINT ALMOST HORZ? THAT'S A EASY WAY TO TELL. NOW COMPARE THAT SAME LINE WITH #1, SEE HOW THEY BOTH POINT UPWARDS? THAT'S BECAUSE BOTH SETS ARE HONDA SETS(THE "HM" ON #1 IS UNDERNEATH ON THE HIDDEN SIDE).THERE IS ALSO A GAP AT THE BOLT HEAD WHEN IN THE CLOSED POSITION BUT AS YOU CAN SEE, SOME OTHERS HAVE THAT AS WELL BUT IT IT'S MISSING, YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A FAKE! LASTLY, #2 IS A MODERN KAWASAKI SET. YOU'LL NOTICE IN THE LAST PICTURE HOW THIN THE JAWS ARE. THERE YOU GO, VINTAGE PLIERS 1:01!
PLEASE REMEMBER, WE ARE POSTING THIS TO HELP YOU, THE POTENTIAL BUYER. WE ALREADY KNOW WHICH KITS ARE RIPOFFS AND WHICH ONES ARE THE REAL DEAL. THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS “AD” IS TO HELP THE OWNERS THAT CAN ADMIT THEY DON’T KNOW EVERYTHING. WE BELIEVE THE CONTENT OF THE DESCRIPTIONS TO BE COMPLETELY ACCURATE AS IT WAS WRITTEN AND SENT TO US AFTER WE REQUESTED IT FROM ONE OF OUR MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE CONSIGNORS’. THEY ATTESTED TO THE FACT THAT THE CONTENT WAS VERY THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED BEFORE BEING WRITTEN SO YOU THE BUYER, CAN BE ASSURED OF RECEIVING THE CORRECT INFORMATION.
YOU WON’T NEED LUCK NOW ON YOUR NEXT TOOL PURCHASE SINCE YOU ARE NOW EDUCATED AND ARMED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT WILL PREVENT ANY OF THE RIP-OFF ARTISTS FROM MAKING YOU THEIR NEXT SUCKER!
